Sometimes games parallel real life… too much.

Election! The Battle of Camerai is an original, crowdfunded card game created as a playful response to the growing polarization around modern politics. The project was designed to make political discussion feel accessible again by reframing it as something social, absurd, and nonthreatening. Rather than reinforcing real-world ideologies, the game uses humor and fictional stakes to encourage conversation, strategy, and reflection without asking players to defend deeply personal beliefs.

Set in the fictional world of Camerai, the goal of the game is to become President by accumulating the most voter points by the end of play. Players earn points through alliances, strategic betrayals, competitive challenges, and deliberately over-the-top debates. The mechanics are intentionally lighthearted and unpredictable, allowing players with different viewpoints or comfort levels around politics to engage without tension. The experience prioritizes interaction, negotiation, and laughter over winning arguments.

Election was taken from early concept through full production entirely in-house. I led the development of the game design, world-building, visual identity, written content, and all supporting assets. The project was successfully launched and funded on Kickstarter, where it was positioned not just as a card game, but as a social experience meant to bring people back to the table during a time when political discussion often feels off-limits.
Election is an attempt to show how humor, play, and a bit of shared absurdity can lower the stakes around difficult topics and create space for conversation, even when people come in with different perspectives.
